Don’t Miss Bookaroo Delhi 2013

After a cracker of a fifth edition last year, Bookaroo, your favourite literature festival, is all set to notch up the half-a-dozen mark.

This year’s edition on November 23rd and 24th has a grand line-up of writers, illustrators, poets and storytellers that you will love meeting. They have invited more than 100 speakers from all over the world – and India – to come and celebrate books and literature with you.

Recommended for kids from 4 – 14 years this one is a must attend for all literary buffs. Make sure you look at the schedule and pick your slots well.

 It is going to be a packed programme , Don’t let anything stop you from being there. Children (and we mean their families too), come over, meet and chat with your favourite authors, take part in workshops, listen to enthralling stories from all over the world or just craft your way through the day. I have listed down my picks for each of the days below for 4 – 8 year olds and that’s only because after that age the kids are happy to pick and choose basis their interests.

My picks for the 23rd of November for 4 – 8 year olds

1. 2.00 p.m. SINGALONG WITH JEEVA with JEEVA RAGHUNATH by Tulika Books

Ages 4-6; Sing songs, tell stories and take some stories home too

2. 1.30 p.m. KUTTI AND MOUSE with SHOBHA VISWANATH 

Ages 6-8 ; Once upon a time there were seven scrumptiously sweet modaks, one
for each of Amma’s children…….one, two, three, four, five, six … but
where is modak number 7? Be ready for fun and games in the hunt for
the missing modak.

3. 2.45 p.m. 101 BOOKS WE LOVE with YOUNG ZUBAAN TEAM

A celebration of Indian children’s books. Who is your favourite character?
Why do you love this story? Join some of your favourites to talk about
reading, writing, dreaming, drawing – and why we love children’s books.

4. 12. 15 LET’S WALK WITH LINES with ANKUR MITRA AND 

SAURABH PANDEY (Hindi) ; Sponsored by Children’s Book Trust
Ages 6-8 (Limited to 50 children)
Lines are so versatile. Draw them straight like the street or draw them
curved like a road going through mountains. Lines can express so many
things – even secrets. Come and explore with lines to see where they lead!

5. 2.45 p.m. EXPLORE YOUR GENIUS with DR MATHS

1. 1.30 p.m. THE GREAT MONSTER HUNT with PARINITA SHETTY 

Ages 6-8 (Limited to 50 children) ; Become a monster hunter as you go looking for monsters on a monster treasure hunt, with Parinita Shetty, monster expert.

2. 12.15 p.m. FOXY FUN with CHRISTIAN DUDA AND JULIA FRIESE 

Ages 6-8 (Limited to 50) ; Join Christian, Julia – and all the ducklings – in this very special

workshop.

3. 12.15 MY HANDY ZOO with INDU HARIKUMAR 

Ages 4-6; Create your very own zoo, using just your hands!

4. 1.30 p.m. FAIRYTALE FINGER PUPPETS with DIVYA GOPINATH

Ages 4-6 (Limited to 50) ; Make Your Own Finger Puppet Story.

5. 3.15 p.m.AGAIN! with JANAKI GALAPPATTI 

Ages 4-6; Janaki shares with you some of her grandchildren’s best loved stories;
the ones they ask for over and over. A lucky dip of unusual family
favourites
