It’s always a pleasure to catch up with Mom Entrepreneurs who are bidding goodbye to corporate lives to be budding entrepreneurs and create a mark for themselves. In this edition of #KSPConversations we caught up with Romilla Tewari of Mycutestickons.com to understand her entrepreneurial journey and owning a brand that dishes out world class Labels & décor designs for kids. She shares her story on juggling her role as a mom and fuelling her ambitions. Romilla Tewari is the Founder & Director of Mycutestickons.com

1.  Tell us about yourself and how was Mycutestickons conceived?

I have always had a fascination for all things kiddy and cute,and it was always on the back of mind to create something of my  own ….while I was always ‘thinking cuteâ€_x009d_, Thinkcutieful.com was conceived. Mycutestickons is an extension of Thinkcutieful. Getting organized  with kids their belongings, making them responsible for their stuff got me thinking and my research led me to explore products and things available abroad. Mycutestickons was born creating labels for kids for about everything from clothes to shoes.

2. What is Mycutestickons all about?

Boarding Schools ,Schools, Preschools, camps, Day cares, all prefer that kids belongings are clearly named and for all the right reasons. A lot of good money goes waste because of lost property. Mycutestickons is helping schools and parents get organized by making children’s properties easily identifiable. In 2009, and very  proudly India’s first of a kind company to begin a concept of kids labels for their clothes, shoes  and other personal belongings, A simple solution for kids to take responsibility of their own things.

3. What do you wish to achieve with Mycutestickons?

Mycutestickons aims to simplify mothers needs to organize kids stuff and continuously provide innovative products for day to day management.

4.  How do you manage your time between work kids and work.

Balance is the key, however kids are themselves supportive and understand my need to manage time between them and work.

5. What are your plans for Mycutestickons and how are you planning to further grow it?

Mycutestickons with the love of our clients have grown in the last 5 years from being able to sell typically one or 2 kinds of products with limited designs to be able to provide bespoke designs and many available label options to suit your needs. Mycutestickons growth plans are now focused on providing some personalized products for Mothers as well e.g.  Mommy cards & Playdate cards which are a novel concept in India.

6. You have been a successful entrepreneur. Share a few tips that no book in the world can share on being entrepreneur.

Hardwork and more hardwork. Be prepared to do anything big or small yourself. Chase your dream, don’t give up , there will be  highs & lows. Most important integrity and customer service. If these basics are in place no one can take your dream away.

 7. How do you deal with cheap substitutes?

I don’t need to deal with them, the discerning customer already knows and the ones who do give substitutes a try, know it  soon.

8.India is a fairly unorganized market and a large part of moms shop offline. How do you deal with it and reach out to larger audiences?

Social Media has been a great platform to reach out to the offline moms and redirect them to online shopping. Exhibitions have been a great platform to reach out to larger audiences. Constant visibility, ideas, feedback, word of mouth every small means help in a big way.

9. What sets Mycutestickons apart from the other labels that area available?

We constantly are researching testing on our materials and design improvement in terms of what our clients want. In fact the new designs are all based on customer requirement which slowly became regular designs at Mycutestickons. Our raw materials all come from very high end brands in this category of self-adhesive media, so much so that some of the material brought in by us is the first in India from these brands as well. Our iron-on material itself was a first in India in 2009. We use the best in printing technology available in this space and our labels are not being printed on standard label printers hence we can deliver to any shape and size. A dedicated team of designers work constantly on new ideas and development. All are designs are self illustrated or license paid, we do not plagiarize or use free designs , any inspired designs have been credited or paid for before use.

10. New additions to Mycutestickons?

Mycutestickons is constantly researching and trying to improvise on current products and innovate new products to make life simple for parents. We have recently added Mommy cards ,Playdate cards, seasonal stick-on tags for festivals like Diwali, Xmas, etc. Party favour tags like Baby showers, Thank you tags and Birthday tags besides these we are working on some new size options in our label category  and extra large Iron on labels for Boarding schools for their linens etc. Our new designs will be available soon specially for tweens and teens.

11. In one word:

a. Being an entrepreneur is: The biggest thrill I could have had after my family

b. Copycats : Love them, they are the first acknowledgement of having arrived ! Wish they were copying proper, though. Customers expect better copies.:)

c.  Online shopping is: Bread and butter for me; a huge convenience for our customers

d. Being mommy is: Love, intimacy and un-comparable joy

e. Pursue your passion because: As —Vincent Van Gogh said “I would rather die of passion than of boredom.â€_x009d_

f. Be on a digital platform because: It is soon becoming the town square of the global village of tomorrow and I want prime seats

g. Parents in Mumbai: Or anywhere want to give kids the best !
