Today’s activity is a great fun idea and I have found this as great way to teach the daughter any new concept, or capture memories of what we’ve seen together. Its a great way of teaching them and kids love to look back at memories. They recall best when they keep seeing the same thing again and again. We used this activity in  multiple ways and here are a few of them:
1. Cut & paste concepts e.g. Alphabets & words.
2. Classification: This is a very important concept that will help a child build his reasoning and logical skills. Help him sort out different pictures with whatever logic he supports and help him stick it. Do not negate his reasoning but support it with your reasoning. You can use this too teach fruits, vegetables, transport, rooms of the house, etc.
3. Visit book: Stick things that we may have picked up when we visited a particular place, e.g. a garden where we found certain flowers, stones, feathers, etc. You can also print pictures of your visit and stick them. This works very well when you do it for holidays too. You can try digital scrapbooking too to capture your holidays best. Here is a great video on Digital Scrapbooking and how to get it started.

4. Picture Talk: We try and use these to cut out pictures that we like from old newspapers and magazines and stick them on pages with a specific topic. We then create stories out of all the different pictures we have stuck on that page. E.g. Title a page as beach and stick all the pictures that possible you would find on a beach. You may chance on different boats, sea creatures, picnic pictures, camera, sun screen, sun glasses etc. You can also do an activity in the scrapbook with material that you have collected e.g. make a necklace and stick it in the scrapbook or make a sand painting with the sand or do flower or leaf painting with the flowers collected etc.
5. You can also stick/file important  activities that you’ll have done together in an interesting way so the child can learn from revisiting that concept e.g. Milk: who gives us milk, what do we make with milk, etc.
What you need:
This activity can be as creative or as easy and flexible as you make it. We have been quite flexible with it and kept it simple. Here are a few ideas you can choose from:
1. Take a file and cover it and do all the sticking on recycled A4 sheets. You can also get the sheets bound if you wish too. But I prefer filing so you can keep adding the sheets
2. For a specific topic you can get coloured sheets and get it bound so the child finds it attractive to use. E.g. Alphabets. You know its 26 letters and you will need about a page each and maybe add numbers to it as well.
3. Glitter Pens, Stickers, felt pens, scissors & fevistick. For alphabets, transport and  a lot of other concepts you may get supporting stickers as well so please use those.
4. Lots of cut & paste books. Please use those cheap Navneet or Vikas books. The best option is to use old magazines & newspapers.
You can do this activity all through summer and then do it maybe once a week. Its engaging & interesting and kids love all the tearing, sticking, colouring and all the glitter.
