When to start the school bus?

In Mumbai city kids start schooling at 1 year with the famous and infamous mother toddler programs in my mind and at 2.5 I had the option to put her on the school bus. Think we agreed because a lot of moms gave their consent, their is always a mom on duty, a female attendant at all times, she may become a lot more independent, she anyways needs to start in July when she enters big school where its not a choice.

It may not be a big consideration in a lot of cities in the world but in Mumbai, India it sure is. In Mumbai city kids start schooling at 1 year with the famous and infamous mother toddler programs in my mind and at 2.5 I had the option to put her on the school bus. I must say I was tempted but somewhere I knew that the husband and I were not convinced. 2.5 years, 95% toilet trained, feels sleepy in motion, with no seat belts, bumpy roads, no grills, 1 attendant and 1 mother on duty, will she manage?

These are common questions that I guess most parents deliberate over and I must say they are valid. If you didn’t think of these questions  I would be surprised. Over the last 6 months the daughter has been insistent that she travel in the school bus given that a lot of her classmates do. After a lot of deliberation the husband and I have finally given it a nod and are okay to try the school bus. Think we agreed because a lot of moms gave their consent, their is always a mom on duty, a female attendant at all times, she may become a lot more independent, she anyways needs to start in July when she enters big school where its not a choice.

We don’t know whether it is the best decision but yes it does feel right, right now. We also realized that parenting is such a tough job you need to make decisions all the time and its tough as you can be wrong too. Will keep you guys posted on my experience through the next 6 months. Until then all the experienced moms please let us know what your feedback.
