My child is all of four years and has seen his fair share of the world. Which means Where is K will only suggest places for you to travel based on their experience of travelling there with children. Their goal is to encourage families to travel to destinations that are not run of the mill, but exotic and off beat and in the process create memories for a lifetime. So don’t expect package tours and popular resorts, you will definitely get something you never expected!

How they began:
The force and idea behind Where is K is mom Keya Khanvte who hit upon the idea when people began asking her about her crazy travel itineraries. When her son (the wanderer K) turned one, they began travelling on vacations around the world. Till date her son has seen the Northern Lights in Finland, lived in a remote town in the Arctic circle, walked through the highlands of Vietnam, played in the beaches of Sri Lanka, visited Montenegro among so many other places. That is quite a lot for a little guy!
Khanvte runs L’escapades Boutique Travels and has collaborated with many successful hotel chains through her company. Unlike regular travel agents and vacation planners who are unable to tailor make itineraries to suit a particular family, Where is K and L’escapades Boutique Travels will only suggest places that address all the concerns of parents. So if you are travelling with a young child, hotels that are stroller friendly and have kid approved food are suggested. Having said that don’t expect suggestions for a run of the mill hotel, you will instead get a tailor made boutique vacation itinerary.
So stop thinking about standard destinations like London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai. There is so much more to explore around the world. Why not visit the Saariselka in the Arctic or spend a complete week in a remote village in Italy? The possibilities are endless! Your kids will get to experiment with something new and who knows what they might learn!

What we like:Â
- We love the whole idea of giving our children an experiential holiday. Studies have consistently shown that children flourish when they are exposed to new surroundings and this seems to be the perfect way to do that.
- While most people seem to be visiting destinations merely as a way of ticking things off their bucket list travelling to offbeat destinations seems to be the perfect way to not just take a vacation but also to bond together as a family.
What we would like to see:
- While Khanvte promises to start visiting destinations in India, we just have to say that we can’t wait for those reviews. Most parents visit big cities with children and if Where is K can suggest places in the country that are kid friendly, that would make weekend travel plans awesome!
- Festivals and government holidays allow parents to club a few days together for mini vacations. Where is K should have destinations that are close enough to reach and explore for a four day holiday.
