‘Tis the season of Joy and Giving. Christmas is just around the corner, I am sure, by now, The tree and pretty lights must be up in your homes. There is something so magical about Christmas – from the décor, the lights, the cold weather, and cute socks – the whole vibe is bright and merry and of course, the scrumptious Christmas treats.

Every year I look forward to coming up with some delicious Christmas treats. Now that my toddler loves her sweet treats, I keep making something yummy for her, ensuring that it’s not overly sweet.

Well, I’ve got two such cute and simple Christmas recipes that you can make with your kids this X’mas. I was scrolling through Pinterest and found these recipes and gave my own twist to them. They are yummy and are not packed with a lot of sugar.

These recipes are as much fun to make as they are to eat. Give them a try in your kitchen with our kids this holiday season.

X’Mas Tree Ornaments Breads and Toasties

This is the most fun, simple and cute Christmas treat that could be made in no time, these edible Christmas tree ornaments are quite delicious, and your kids are going to love them.

Ingredients

  • Bread Slices
  • Christmas Tree Cookie Cutters 
  • Cream Cheese (room temperature)
  • 3-4 Tbsp Butter 
  • Spinach Chutney 
  • Handful of Boiled Corn Kernels
  • ½ Red Bell Pepper cut into tiny cubes

Method

  • Take a bread slice and cut the bread using the Christmas tree cookie cutter
  • Spread some butter over it lightly
  • Layer some spinach chutney over it
  • The spinach chutney is made using spinach, 2-3 garlic pods, ginger, green chilli/red chill powder as per taste & salt 
  • Make sure the tree looks lush green, spreading it evenly. 
  • Decorate it by placing a few corn kernels and tiny red bell pepper cubes
  • Make a tiny star shape out of a cheese slice using a star cookie cutter
  • Place the star on the tree top. 
  • Spinach Christmas Tree is ready.

Nutella Gingerbread Man Toasties

Ingredients

  • Bread slices
  • Nutella
  • Strawberries
  • Cream Cheese
  • Gingerbread man Cookie Cutter

Method

  • Take bread slices and make cuts using the gingerbread man cookie cutter
  • Lightly toast these gingerbread men with little butter in a pan until they are crisp and golden
  • Spread some Nutella, make eyes and buttons with the cream cheese-filled piping bag
  • You could also use white chocolate chips instead
  • Using strawberries, make some strips and place them as the mouth/smile of the gingerbread man
  • Dress him up by using the cream cheese to make buttons on the gingerbread man

Angel Fairy Bread:

Ingredients

  • Slices of bread
  • Cream Cheese
  • Different types of sprinkles
  • Angle Fairy Cookie Cutter

Method

  • Take bread slices and make angel fairy bread cutouts using the cookie cutter
  • Spread some cream cheese over it 
  • Sprinkle some colourful sprinkles over it
  • Press it gently so that the sprinkles stick to the cream cheese.

Snowman Toasties

Ingredients

  • Bread slices
  • Cream Cheese
  • Snowman Cookie Cutter
  • Strawberry Strips
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Chocolate sauce

Method

  • Take bread slices and  make the snowman cutouts using the cookie cutter
  • Toast them using little butter until golden and crisp in a pan
  • Spread some cream cheese over it. 
  • Take a carrot stick and make a snowman’s long nose out of it
  • Poke a hole and place the carrot nose on the bread
  • Dip a wooden skewer into the chocolate sauce to make the eyes
  • You may also use the edible ones that you get in the market. 
  • Make the snowman’s scarf using strawberry strips.
