So after 6 years of flying in a private jet, Suri cruise took her first commercial flight to Ohio with mom Katie Holmes. On their little vacation to the Big Apple she also hailed a taxi on the streets of NYC making great news in the media about how she wants her child to have a more grounded upbringing.
Its not a conversation that came up with the recent petrol hike or with Katie Holmes trying to give Suri Cruise a normal sans frill childhood but a thought that I have been pondering for a while.  Think about it? Are you scared as a parent to try public transport with your child or is it the societal pressure that makes you hesitant?
Are the bus or train rides restricted to your child’s school trips alone? We all grew up using them right and we were fine. Ofcourse during peak traffic times it may not be the best idea but there are lots of times that we can actually do it but are either lazy, feel that using public transport for kids is not good and unhygienic in India. Forget the buses and trains, some parents are even hesitant to try a taxi with their child.
Its not so much about proving a point that I make my kids use public transport vs. convenience, exposure and being up and about and not being restricted in executing our plans. If you haven’t tried the public transport already with your children maybe its a good idea to give it a shot right now. Don’t let these moments get restricted to school trips alone especially if you live in Mumbai. Every time you go on a holiday those vacations cannot be restricted to flights alone.
