Big Umbrella Launches in Mumbai
The Big Umbrella playschool has started its first branch at August Kranti Marg(Kemps Corner), and believe in multiple ways to promote multiple intelligences. Their curriculum is designed in Europe and the USA, but customised to Indian educational requirements. It caters to the multiple intelligences propounded by Howard Gardener using a judicious blend of Montessori, Playway, and Reggio Emilia methods of preschool education. They can be broadly categorised into the following nine intelligences:
- Naturalist Intelligence (“Nature Smart”)
- Musical Intelligence (“Music Smart”)
- Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (“Number/Reasoning Smart”)
- Existential Intelligence (“Philosophy Smart”)
- Inter-personal Intelligence (“People Smart”)
- Bodily-Kinaesthetic Intelligence (“Body Smart”)
- Linguistic Intelligence (“Word Smart”)
- Intra-personal Intelligence (“Self Smart”)
- Spatial Intelligence (“Picture Smart”)
