Body dysmorphic disorder is a mental health condition in which you can’t stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance — a flaw that appears minor or can’t be seen by others. But you may feel so embarrassed, ashamed and anxious that you may avoid many social situations.- This is the definition of body dysmorphia according to the world health organization .

Body dysmorphia is when you look in the mirror and all you can see is everything you hate about yourself . You constantly pick at and criticize your supposed flaws and feel embarrassed and horrified that that is really you . How could you let this happen to you? Why couldn’t you have prevented it by being stronger? Why are you always so weak?. These thoughts take over your head and you fall into a state of self loathing and depreciation .In that moment of body image issues you feel nothing but pure disgust of yourself and completely break yourself down .

Body dysmorphia is when you are getting ready to go out and then when it’s time to get ready you try on 50 different outfits yet they all dont fit right and you find excuses to get out of going out and spend the rest of the day trying to avoid looking at yourself so you can avoid the pain and  prevent the sense of inadequacy from coming back .

This is something I used to experience on quite often . Every time I had to go somewhere and I put my clothes on I would feel absolutely disgusted and my “ imperfections“ were the only things that I could focus on . If what I was wearing did not look right  I would rather not go and would rather spend the time alone . This actually stopped me being in situations I would truly enjoy and oppurtunities than  I would be grateful to have .   Being so overly aware of what your body looks like at every given moment and being able to notice every tiny change that comes in your body is never going to be a good thing

Body dysmorphia is when you look at old photos of yourself and wish your body looked like that and wish you can “fix” it . But the truth is even when that photo was clicked you didn’t like your body and wanted to “fix” .

The truth is your body dysmorphia is not going to  go away if you lose ten pounds , slim your legs or get a flat stomach or get your dream body. You are still going to  find flaws because the problem is not in your body, it’s in that mindset that having a body that is not “ perfect” takes away from your value when this is the case for 99 percent of people .

Body dysmorphia is only going to  get better when you take away its power to hurt you or ruin your mood .  You have to take away the importance you give to your perception of your body . To do this you have to remember that your body is the one that is best suited for you its always going to be different from the  various people you meet in your life and that’s a good thing .It’s your covering to help you explore the world and experience life you cannot give more important to the covering than what’s inside , because that is what matters.
