Breastfeeding in front of your own husband was looked down upon years ago. But now times are changing. However, breastfeeding still seems like sort of a taboo. Breastfeeding is a natural thing, not something shameful. We all have been breastfed by our mothers when we were small, it’s not something abnormal. Yet, most mothers feel shy or ashamed to breastfeed in public as people stare like there’s no tomorrow.
But, What About At Home?
In public places, it’s still understood. Mothers need to cover themselves well while breastfeeding and all. But what about home? Should moms go into a corner and breastfeed? Well, it’s okay for the husbands to be around, but what about the big siblings?
Is it okay for them to be there while moms breastfeed?
Should I cover myself?
Do it when they’re away?
At what age is it appropriate to tell them?
I think we want breastfeeding to be treated as a normal thing, it should be normal for older kids to be around. If we explain it simply, they’ll understand and will no longer be a topic of curiosity.
