Creativity Is Key To Developing Essential Skills In Kids. Here’s Why

You know toys come labelled with age groups. Still, there is one toy that comes with a starting age but no ending age – it sparks creativity, problem-solving, boundless imagination, communication skills and confidence with PLAY – and that’s the LEGO® bricks you and I have grown up playing. We have a few recommendations that you should definitely check out this month.

Creativity is an innate human trait that starts developing from the moment we enter the world. Kids spend every waking moment trying to connect the dots to understand, learn and experience what is happening around them all the time. Just like any muscle, your child’s creativity also requires exercise, stimulation, and nourishment to develop.

The best way to do that experts around the world have figured is through PLAY.  Learning through play helps children develop the skills they need to thrive.

Over 90% of parents say play helps their child develop vital life skills:

  – 93% Creativity

 – 92% Communication

 – 91% Confidence

 – 92% problem solving

This is what Eric Erikson says about PLAY!

“You see a child play, and it is so close to seeing an artist paint, for in play a child says things without uttering a word. You can see how he solves his problems. You can also see what’s wrong. Young children, especially, have enormous creativity, and whatever’s in them rises to the surface in free play.”

I have seen my kids spend hours in the garden making stick figures out of twigs, making a bush their secret hide-out, using a broom lying around and making it a galloping horse or climbing a tree and being a lookout for all the pirate friends. Now if that’s not creativity in full form, what is?

The world today is constantly changing and innovating. The kids are going to deal with unimaginable innovations and hit unpredictable speedbumps.

By 2050, the jobs we know today may not even exist. Who would have thought a drone pilot or a content creator would be a job 30 years ago?

Through PLAY let your child hone their skills to think, create and work together.  Children encounter obstacles while constructing, such as fitting pieces together or troubleshooting design issues. By observing how they approach and resolve these challenges, you can gain insights into their problem-solving abilities and their level of interest and determination in tackling complex tasks. Remember, identifying a child’s passion point requires observation, open-ended conversations, and providing a diverse range of experiences.
