When I had my first child, both me and my son took our time to get used to each other. I was straddled with adjustment issues, postpartum stress, and so much more. It felt like I was solely in charge of this tiny human being and he became my entire world. I was with him the whole day and was able to read his every look and gaze. So I took my time returning to the normal world and actually waited a couple of months to form a regular routine for my family.

When I was expecting my second one there was just never enough time. I remember my biggest worry while going into labour was not the pain and trauma associated with childbirth, like it was the first time around. But whether my older one was well taken care of. How he would adjust to his new sibling, what more we can do to make sure he never feels left out!
