To all the single dads, those who are hands on or those that step up and take charge of their kids. How many times have you faced the issue of not having a changing table in the men’s room? This father felt that too.
Anthony Dew was stuck with his 4-month old son, Jeremiah at a Macy’s in Prince George’s County in December when he realised there was no pace to change his son’s diaper! Not a single men’s room had a changing table. After he informed the management about it, he was forced to leave the store! The livid, frustrated father decided to take action!

The incident provoked him to write a letter to Terry Lundgren, Macy’s chairman and CEO on behalf of every father who needed access to a public changing table. Macy’s after understanding this issue renovated the men’s room and added a changing table. They even gave Dew a Macy’s gift card to apologize for his poor shopping experience.
Today, the role of fatherhood has become much more dominant in the child’s upbringing but is unfortunately ignored. Dads are taking on more childcare and housework duties, and moms are working more outside the home. In the past year alone, we’ve seen a big shift in what the average dad looks like — stay-at-home dads, single dads, and hands-on dads are becoming the new norm.
Celebrity dad Ashton Kutcher too noticed this imbalance and spoke up about it. In 2015 he started a social media campaign and a Change.org petition to get changing tables into all public restrooms at popular shopping places like Target and Costco.
