Is bedtime a daily battle at home? Does your child try to push bedtime by just 5 minutes? We’ve been there too. Don’t you find it strange that although kids need more sleep than adults, they try to fight it with every fibre in their being?

Of course, all parents know that going to sleep on time is important for our kids. But what is so magical about that golden period for when and how long they should go to sleep?

For your school going kid, the ideal time to go to bed is around 8 o’clock so that they get a good 10 hours of restful sleep. Sleep helps growth, promotes immunity, and even helps the heart stay healthy and prevents obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. And for your kid to be bright and attentive in school the next day, sleep is the most important ingredient.

Not only does your child need adequate sleep but needs to sleep on time. We all have a biological clock that works in accordance with our circadian rhythms. Sleeping and waking up on time helps set this internal clock, leading to a healthy ‘sleep hygiene’.
