I didn’t start working out for a very long time as I didn’t want to join a gym. It seemed like a lot to handle. What if I didn’t get results or what if I decided not to go- would that be a waste of my time and money- my mind raced to think.

Let’s be realistic. If you're pressed for time, finances or swamped with life in general, going to a gym might not be feasible at this point. .To be able to hit the gym on a daily basis you need to consider the travel time to and fro, and then the work out time. Before you know, you’ve spent at least 2 hours. If you are not hard-pressed for time, then it's a great option. But what if you fall short of time? What is the option in that case?

Common excuses we give to not go to the gym:

  • Too expensive
  • Lack of time
  • Need permission/ Sort out things at home

Well-designed home workouts or body weight workouts are a great option. They can be done anywhere, anytime. To start your fitness journey there are lots you can do. Here's how you can get the workout part right. 

1. Choosing the right place:

Decide where you would want to work out. It can be home/work gym, in the park, in your building common area, terrace, parking lot, or even somewhere in your office building. Find a place that is easily accessible and convenient to you.

2. Choose the right time:

To start, all you need is 30 minutes in a day. Try sneaking in whatever form of fitness routine you can in those thirty minutes. Be it 30 minutes of brisk (fast) walk, jogging, running, or a body weight workout. It can be any convenient time during the day or even during your lunch break. Remember to go for a 30-minute walk before your lunch.

3. Choosing the right clothing:

Wear anything that makes you comfortable- just make sure you team it with a pair of sneakers- that is really all you need.

What moms need to remember:

  • Don’t make the mistake that I made and wait for the right time, convenient time, after certain commitments, etc. Do it now!
  • Where do you think you will be in a month if you followed the 30 mins a day challenge and followed the basic tips to eating right? Get the desired outcome in your mind. 
  • Ask yourself if it’s worth doing.
  • Do you think you are not motivated enough? Seek help and ask a friend to accompany you- someone who can inspire you every day.
