We often take the liberty of putting ourselves in others’ situations and pass judgements on how one should react or have reacted. But pause for a minute and ask yourself- why do you want to do that?!

We at KSP asked moms to write in and share their experiences of being mom-shamed, judged and ridiculed and we have received numerous responses from moms who have been victims, but decided to march ahead and pursue their dreams. Today’s story is about the society judging you for your decisions and sharing unsolicited opinions on your situation.

You are a warrior. Warriors don’t give up. Pick up your sword and fight. ~unknown

Starting my life story- I got married at 19, had a kid at 20, dropped out of my education because I wanted to be a hands-on mom. But the universe had other plans for me. After I had another child,  in 2017, I lost my husband. By the time I turned 30, I was a single mom with 2 kids. I embraced it as an “act of God”. But some people started giving their views on what a widow should wear, why I should avoid colours and jewellery!

When I wore western clothes for the first time and took a trip to visit my parents- to come out of my grief and depression, I had to hear all the flaws and taunts! God did not tell us to do all this, none of the Holy sacred books asks us to follow these rituals as a widow- then who makes these rules? They are these people who make these rules either because of jealousy or lack of education and knowledge. Such people contaminate a society.

The world is changed by your example and not by your opinion. When the whole world is silent even one voice becomes powerful. I raise my voice not to shout but to serve as a voice for those can't be heard! As moms, let's strive to break all stereotypes! #JudgeMeNot!
