Today, when parents and nutritionists across the world are concerned about the growing incidence of obesity among children, this ace photographer decided to take up his passion a step further. Gregg Sagel, a photographer by profession decided to travel around the world and find out what kids across countries ate in a week and once he did, he even photographed them along with the foods to give a clearer picture to the world.

Check out this brilliant piece of work, published in the Time magazine where he has managed to capture the food habits of kids in Mumbai Kuala Lumpur, Italy, France, Germany, Los Angeles, and more places. After asking the kids to maintain a journal of what they ate over a week, he actually captured a snap of them beside the food- to give a realistic picture of how the dietary preferences vary across countries.

When the Cambridge University conducted a study in 2015 listing the countries with the healthiest diets, the African countries made it to the top with their choice of fruits, vegetables and nuts.

When asked why he chose kids as his subject of work, he says-

I’m focusing on kids because eating habits, which form when we’re young, last a lifetime and often pave the way to chronic health problems like diabetes, heart disease and colon cancer.
