With the last few showers of monsoon we welcome a whole lot of fun, fests & outdoorsy events. Peek a boo school wadala hosts this project day every year and each year is unique with a different theme. The education fraternity, moms & kids all love them for the amazing show they put up each year. You know it’s so brilliant that in a city like Mumbai where everything is either not available, is too far or too expensive you have an exhibit of this grandeur at a location central to all.

This year was my first year but after visiting it, I am sure its not going to be my last. Darshini Shah Founder of Peekaboo school played the perfect host and made an exception for me to take a few pictures which I will definitely share with my readers

Here is why we loved it so much… They lived true to the theme of ‘World Of wings’ and covered all the different types of birds and put them into clusters for us to group them and remember. Creative juices were on an overdrive with each and every possible craft material used. Teachers actively supported the project day by volunteering to share information through the day with all the visitors that came in.

Water Birds

We started with the pet birds which were made in all sizes, colours and using various materials. We also saw real birds in cages and got a chance to feed them some green chillies. Moving on we saw the water birds with flamingos, cranes, storks, Ibis and many more. Interestingly they had a related activity near each category of birds that made it extremely interesting and engaging for the children. We did sand painting with the flamingos, sponge painting to make a beak of the parrot, Coloured the wings of the duck with some colourful poha, add some razz matazz to the nightlife of a bat, some cotton snow for the penguins.

Activities we did

Mask made of faux bird feathers

Carry bag with a penguin made of Semolina & some cotton acting as snow

Parrots Beak made of Paper plate and some sponge dabbing

A paper duck pen holder with coloured poha on the wings

A Peek a boo carry bag with some sand painting on the flamingo

The teachers had taken enough effort to highlight every category and ensure the visuals were large and related texts easy for visitors to read. Interestingly they also had an Audio Visual about great bird facts playing in an AV room that got the fancy among the older children.

The puppet show is supposedly the most sought after show and we had moms pushing us through to attend it just in time. The 30 minute show captivates the attention of the kids and weaves interesting facts about birds into latest Bollywood tunes.

The kids were extremely pleased to have a fun Saturday morning with so many goodies to take back home and the moms with so much knowledge. Peek a boo was also generous enough to share some quick worksheets with all the visitors to ensure the concept was well understood.

Thank you Peek a boo!!!
