Babies grow up so fast. If only there was a pause button just to admire those little hands and tiny feet one more time. I have put together some very common things that can be found in your house to add that extra element to make your pictures amazing. You can use anything and everything to create a picture; books, groceries, newspaper, utensils, candles, eggs etc.
Here are some creative tips, tricks and hacks to incorporate daily objects into creating a scenario/ theme-based photographs and cherish the memories forever.

Cosmetics
In this picture, the cosmetics are scattered randomly and the baby is put in a towel. Ensure that all the objects are dusted prior put to use.
Tip: use a light coloured clean bedsheet as this ensures bright reflection of the colours around her.
Blankets
The pink background in the picture is a pink blanket which is pinned on the headboard of the bed to create a professional background. The baby is then placed on another white blanket to create the whole scene/look.
Shawls/ Scarves and a Round Plastic Tub
The baby is put into a round plastic tub filled with small pillows and covered with a white blanket. In this picture, the baby is wrapped in a red pashmina shawl and around him, there is a matching red scarf. The colours and textures of scarves and shawls could look amazing and very professional.
Seashells
Using the same cheat with the plastic tub filled with pillows, which is finally surrounded by white bedsheets, to match the tone of the dress of the baby. Seashells add the beach-type vibe to the picture along with a piece of lace which is used in place of a hairband to add to the theme of the image.
Fairy Lights
Fairy lights can be used in multiple ways for styling of a picture. Used on the background or just scatter into the scene.
Baby Clothes And Random Things
The scene below is very easy to recreate using baby clothes, ribbons, few clips and bedsheets or any coloured fabric. The key here is to prepare the scene before the actual shoot. So you're set and you can click away.
Flowers
Flowers could be used in multiple ways for pictures. Just petals, a sign or initial of the baby, monthly birthday, in the bathtub, flowers falling on the baby, baby trying to hold flowers. The possibilities are limitless. This is one of my favourite ways of incorporating flowers into a picture.
Suitcase
What does a baby need when she’s travelling? A suitcase full of diapers, isn’t it? To that add all travel related props such as passport, currency, camera, sunglasses etc, which are easily available in a household are incorporated to create a scene.
Favourite Footwear
It is very simple yet creative picture you can recreate with your baby. As only the feet of the parent/ caregiver and baby are being shot, pretty much nothing is required apart from an elegant looking pair of shoes.
Few tips and tricks for better photography:
- Lighting is the soul of photography. Try to shoot in natural light, near windows, at the times when the natural light is in abundance.
- A well fed and well-slept baby is always a better model.
- Always plan ahead. Try to break down your scene into steps like finding props, arranging props and actual shoot. Trying to do it all at once can be exhausting.
- Try to find someone to assist you while taking the pictures. Distraction with your baby's favourite toy can become a blessing if you want the baby to focus/look in a particular direction.
