Flamingo Bird Watching Tour By Small Steps Adventures

Flamingo Bird Sanctuary Information: The sanctuary will be the State’s second marine sanctuary after the one at Malvan. The 1,690-hectare bird haven — 896 hectares of mangrove forests and 794 hectares of a water body — is on the western bank of the creek, between the Airoli and the Vashi bridges connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Its eco-sensitive zone will be the adjoining mangrove areas on either side of the creek, which are already notified as reserve forests. India is home to two types of flamingos from a total of 6 recognized around the world – Greater Flamingo and Lesser Flamingo. Both types can be seen at thane creek during the migratory season.

Itinerary:
Meeting Point: Bhandup Pumping Station Bus Stop by 8.00 am. Its a best flamingo watching location in Mumbai. One has to walk for 30 min till the point. We will start exploring by 9.00 am after introduction and instruction session. There will be one and half hour session of bird watching and other guidance.

Visit To Flamingo Sanctuary By INaturewatch Foundation

It’s time of the year again for the pink feathered beauties to visit us. Flamingo – the most awaited migratory bird of the winter season in our city. India is home to two types of flamingos from a total of 6 recognized species around the world – Greater Flamingo and Lesser Flamingo. Along with flamingos, other birds like the Greater Spotted Eagle, Sandpiper, Heron and Black Bellied Tern, Pied Avocets and Grey Lapwing are also seen. iNaturewatch Foundation does not want you to miss this yearly phenomenon and there we are organizing a trail for you at Navi Mumbai. Enjoy two hours of pure bliss, while you watch hundreds of flamingos, ibises, ducks, sandpipers, and dozens of other water birds while you walk among mangroves and take a ride in the boat.

Flamingo Watching At Bhandup By Wildnest – Wildlife Tours In India

Bhandup is truly one of the best kept secrets for observing birds. It encompasses diverse landscapes with salt pans, grassland, a lake, mangrove forest and a creek .One can explore the creek in a boat ride where one can observe a large number of lesser and greater flamingos along with various other birds such as puple heron, grey heron, Black tailed godwit, Black winged stilt, Shovelers, Plover,Whimbrel, Common teal etc to name a few.

Itinerary:

Meet Wildnest team members at the meeting point. Proceed to Bhandup Pumping Station, followed by a brief introduction about flamingos as well as other birds.
Proceed for the boat ride.
Our naturalist will help in spotting flamingos as well as other shore birds found there with binoculars.
