What is your biggest worry as a parent? Marks? TV time? Discipline? Maybe.
But "Is my child eating right?", is a concern that trumps all the others when it comes to today's parents. Don't believe us? Here's what this recent statistic tells us about parents today.
More than 60% of moms cited nutritional intake and physical growth as their top concerns and more than 50% moms expressed concerns over mental growth and social skills development of their toddlers.
Abbott recently launched a campaign called #GrowRight that aims to address parental anxieties around your child's growth in their formative years. The Grow Right Charter defines Right Growth as a combination of physical, cognitive and mental progress. That explains why your doctors lay emphasis on each one of these factors on every visit!
The focus has to be Right Growth = Right Nutrition + Right Playtime + Right Nurturing and Impact on their behaviour.
The guild who worked and unveiled the charter comprised of actress Lara Dutta, Dr Samir Dalwai, Dr Dharini Krishnan and Dr Mukesh Sanklecha. They are all experts in their own fields and came together to provide a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure growth and development. They spoke about the right markers for the growth and development of a child.
Here's what I learnt as a parent from this event:
- Right Nutrition – to help parents better manage mealtimes and ensure a complete and balanced diet for their toddlers.
- Right Play – for parents to address and deal with unchecked screen-time and inadequate playtime
- Right Nurture – to assist in evolving behavioural trends in today’s digitized world
- Right Impact – to help parents identify and manage red flags in key growth and development markers.
So, the next time you are concerned about your child and their growth, ask yourself if you are hitting all these factors and aiding their development.
We're sharing snippets of conversation we had with the guild experts to give you a peek at what was said.
