The-Mumbai-Lit-fest-20121

Nothing and we mean it nothing gives us more pleasure than seeing children being included in this brilliant event. This year the lit festival have bought the gurus of the kids world to story-tell. 

This year Tata Literature Live! has introduced a series of workshops on different subjects:  like food and travel writing, poetry, fiction, memoirs and other subjects for the first time. To bring in the future generation of literature lovers, workshops are also planned for children. Below are the details regarding the children’s workshop which will be curated by The Writer’s Bug.

Workshop Details: –

Session 1: WINGS! Spotting the Magical in the Ordinary

Date & Time: 3rd November; 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Age group: 9 to 12 years

Batch size: 25

Meet children’s author, Chatura Rao, and learn how to spot a story from afar, or sometimes pick it from right below your nose. Listen to some unusual tales and write one up yourself!  Novellist and freelance journalist, Chatura Rao’s stories and novels have been published by some of the best known publishers in the country.

 

Session 2: A Peep Into the Comic Creation Process

Time: 3:30 – 5:00 pm

Age Group: 9 to 14 years

Batch size: 25

Join Abhijeet Kini as he takes you through the process of creating characters and developing the look and style of comics. Learn to make quirky illustrations and create your own comic! Abhijeet Kini is a comic illustrator and animator, with illustrating experience since 1999.

4th November

Session 1: Rhyme and Rhythm – a workshop on Poetry

Time: 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Age group: 8 to 10 years

Batch size: 25

An introduction to poetry with children getting a chance to try their hand at writing a cinquain and a simple rhyme. Have fun listening to limericks and understanding alliteration.  Natasha Sharma sold watches, coffee and pizzas as a brand manager before discovering her love for writing children’s books and poetry. She now has a title she loves a lot more as an Author. Her published books include Icky, Yucky, Mucky!, Kaka and Munni and 366 words in Delhi with more books on their way. In writing books, she is thrilled to have found her most favorite thing to do in the world.

Session 2: Storytelling with Deepa Kiran

Age Group – 7 to 14 years

Batch size – 30

Part 1: Dukku Finds His Fortune

Time: 3:30 – 4:15 pm

Discover the charm of folk wisdom with a magical ride on an Indian Folk Tale. Come and join in a fun, participative storytelling session with Deepa Kiran. Sing and move along as the story unravels through words and gestures, melodies, movement and pictures.

Part 2 Dashavatara – A Musical:

Time: 4:15 – 5:00 pm

Traditional storytellers of India told their stories in verse and rhyme. They held clappers in their hand and wore jingles on their feet and sang and danced as they unraveled mythology. This sessions brings you the popular Indian Mythology – “Dashavatara” narrated just like the Indian bards…except it is in English. Come, witness and be a part of this experimental revival and contemporary repackaging of Indian Mythology for children. Deepa Kiran is an Education Consultant, a professional storyteller and a freelance writer who works with children, teachers and parents.
