This Wonder Chair Might Just Be What You Are Looking to Gift Your Toddler

Kanika G is a mother and the author of the Tania series of books, a series she started to entertain her daughter. In the Tania series, Kanika writes the experiences of a schoolgirl named Tania and uses simple everyday experiences for the plots that, though completely fictitious, could very well be true. My younger daughter is going to be a year old soon. So I was on the lookout for suitable birthday gifts. The trouble is my older one is 3. She was a little upset with the very idea of the younger one getting so many gifts and she getting none. Now I could of course, buy my older one gifts too but I want her to get used to the idea that she would have to share the limelight with her sister. I don’t want the older one to sulk when the baby has her big day. I don’t want my toddler to grow up to be selfish either. So I was looking for a way to help her feel like a gracious and magnanimous older sister.Then I came across this website that sells wooden toys. The pictures looked so cute I wanted to buy some for my younger one’s birthday. Since I had never heard of them before, I decided to buy just one to check out the quality. If it turned out to be good I’d buy a couple more. I was looking through their list when I came across this chair. It is a wooden chair that you have to put together. A dextrous three year old or at most a four year old could probably do it. But once the chair was made only a child about a year old can sit on it.This was the answer to my problems. I asked my toddler if she would like me to get her the chair. I said “You can put it together with papa. It will be a fun project for the two of you.” She was very pleased. “But” I said, “The chair will be too small for you to sit on.””Oh. Then what would I do with it?””It is big enough for your sister to sit on.””Okay mama. You get it for me. I’ll make it with papa, and give it to her for her birthday. It will be a good birthday gift. I need to make something to give her on her birthday, no?”Perfect. Just the response I was hoping for.A few days later the product arrived. It was beautifully packed in this bag.

Every couple of days my toddler takes it apart and makes other things like arrows triangles and imaginary stuff, before making it into a chair again (with papa’s help). The toy is great for role playing as a carpenter, improving dexterity as well as creatively using the pieces to make something other than a chair. And the chair itself is really adorable.

This is how a good purchase and a little research went a long way in bringing my family together and teaching valuable lessons on growing up to my kids.
