Reading will improve concentration and vocabulary, undoubtedly, but that’s not the main reason we emphasize on it. In addition to the numerous benefits, reading facilitates learning. And as a parent, it is our responsibility to know what our kids learn from a book. Reading for the sake of reading and reading to learn something are two completely different things. Don’t you agree?

5 Questions To Ask Your Child After They Read A Book
- Who was your favourite character and why?
- What is the one thing you learnt or liked in the book?
- If you could choose an alternate ending, what would it be?
- If you could change one thing from the book, what would it be?
- How would you describe this book in under two lines?
The main purpose of reading is to learn and these questions will help them read in a more mindful way. At first, they might not have straight opinions or thoughts, but as time passes by, they’ll start reading in a way that they know the answers to these questions. Additionally, you could get a sneak peek into their unique and mind-boggling imagination. (They really do surprise me at times!)
