Well! Don’t we all feel that for any relationship to get stronger, we have to be a part of not just the good sides but the bad sides as well? Likewise, sibling relationships are also strengthened by going through a journey of ups and downs. When siblings are together 24/7, there are high chances of witnessing too much competition and built-in aggression between them.

Concentrating on forming beneficial connections could be effective along with having goodwill to resolve unnecessary issues.

Today I am sharing a few tips that can help build a stronger sibling relationship:

Take Some Time Away

Having a sibling around can lead to constant fights, hence it is essential to give them their individual space. This will help one understand and realize their own faults and they will end up appreciating each other more when they reconnect. Hence, empathy is the key.

Important To Communicate

Nobody will be able to understand the other better than a sibling. Communication is essential not only for sibling relationships but also for a better family relationship. Ask your kids to be transparent with how and what they feel, only then will the opposite person be able to open themselves up to you. If things get heated up, you will as a parent sometimes have to help them resolve them.

Discover A Common Passion

It is quite normal for siblings to at least share one common passion among themselves. Make this passion their go-to solution in case of conflicts. This will help them know that they are better when they explore and learn more about their interests and hence will help them grow not just individually but as a team as well.

Take Interest In Family Duties

Get them to team up and help in indoor as well as outdoor chores and traditions. A common chore could be as simple as washing the dishes, making the bed together and a lot more. Cooperative behaviour is encouraged when people work together to complete a job. Additionally, having your sibling help you, makes doing chores less of a chore!

Avoid Comparison Between Siblings

If parents wish for their children to have a strong bond, they need to make sure that they do not compare their children to each other. Yes, as parents they can wish for their children to become each other’s role models but they should know where to draw a line and should leave it to their kids to figure themselves out. Comparison can lead to conflicting interests and can cause one of the siblings to feel less loved which can lead to jealousy and hatred towards the other sibling.

Nurturance And Love Are The Key

Every sibling is a reflection of each other and they equally require such love and affection during the bad times. Children are much more perceptive than we give them credit for. Teach them to be supportive and be good listeners if their sibling is having a bad day.

Listening is one way to show respect for each other, and respect is essential to building good relationships, whether it’s between friends, partners, or siblings. Remind kids that they should treat others the way they want to be treated, with kindness and concern for their feelings.
