Does your child get bored easily? Do they want something new to play with every few weeks?

As a parent, when I look at buying a toy my child, I always want something that will enable them to better express themselves and build their communication skills. I was also tired of toys that broke so easily.

We asked moms across different age groups what was that one toy that ticked all the right boxes when it came to

  • Creativity
  • Spatial skills
  • Playful
  • Keep them engaged

For every parent, any toy that their child plays with should fuel their creativity, imagination and above all, be loads of fun. As parents, we should encourage our children to explore and develop their own set of interests. How do you encourage your children’s interests while allowing them the independence to be who they are?

@eshuandmom chose to introduce LEGO bricks to her son because she wanted him to be a creator. His love for making new things out of his box of bricks not only fuels his creativity but also helps work on his motor skills.

With @maaofallblogs, her 9-year-old son’s love for this one toy stems from the fact that using his imagination he can make his stories come to life. He used the same bricks to tell different stories.

Mommy @pooja_and_norah wanted to find toys that would help Norah open her mind and encourage her fine and gross motor development. She found everything she wanted in a box of LEGO bricks. These bricks were the perfect, open-ended, brain-building toy that daughter could play with for hours and bring a smile to her face.

@sonshinemumma was on the lookout for a toy that would help her son learn new things while having fun. She wanted a versatile and engaging option. This came to her in the form of colourful bricks. What do they love about it? The best thing is that there is no right or wrong way to play with them!

4.8-year-old Mishka of @theblogofbabymishka absolutely loves LEGO. She can spend hours building, breaking and rebuilding new things. She makes up stories as she goes along.

Did you hear the joy when @growing_unplugged got her 4-year-old son a box of his favourite coloured bricks? He learns so much with these bricks and has fun at the same time.

@Shadesofmommydom sees how engrossed her 7-year old son gets when he’s playing with a pile of bricks. It keeps him creatively stimulated and she doesn’t need to worry about him getting into trouble.

@from_curries_to_crayons has a 7-year-old girl who uses LEGO bricks to help her focus when she’s a little distracted. Great way to centre your thinking we say!!

Once your child gets tired of looking at a set they built, encourage them to take it apart and build something new. One toy with infinite possibilities and stories is just what every imaginative kid needs.
