As humans, we tend to want to put our kids into specific boxes. Remember how when we were growing up – engineer, teacher, doctor, architect? These were the usual choices. Anything besides these and you were being rash about your life.

Parents have a significant influence on their children’s lives, and it is natural for them to guide and shape their children’s choices to some extent. Parents often share their values, beliefs, and experiences with their children, which can influence the decisions children make. However, it is important for parents to strike a balance between providing guidance and allowing their children to develop their own identities and make their own choices.

We spoke to experts recently at a  Round Table on PLAY powered by the LEGO® Group about why we shouldn’t be imposing our choices on our kids and how important PLAY is.

The opinion was unanimous across the board – PLAY is extremely important for our kids and we should let them be free, learn while having fun & let their imagination flow.

The panel comprised of

Dr Swati Popat Vats – President of Early Childhood Association & Podar Education Network

Varun Duggirala – Co-founder of Plot Device Entertainment, Creator & Author

Dr Shwetambara Sabharwal – Parent, Psychologist and Columnist

Bhavana Mandon – Marketing Director, The LEGO® GROUP

and Mansi Zaveri, Founder of Kidsstoppress.com
