Does your child love feeling your wallet and going through it. Mine does. They both love clubbing notes denomination wise. Their constant ask would be when can they get their own wallets.

Since we are stuck at home and have ample time on our hands. We had all the things we needed at home so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get them to make their own wallets.

Kids feel so important the moment they have a place for “their” money. Most kids get money on festivals and birthdays and they want to hold on to it. The money they have as coins or notes sitting in a secured place that’s theirs. This also is a great way to encourage them to save and be mindful of the usage of money in general.

We used a fun design stencil and Cello Colour Up crayons since they are high pigment and make the wallet bright and beautiful.

So let’s get started

Materials Needed

  • Coloured papers
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Crayons
  • Glue

Method

  • Fold the coloured paper into half as shown in the video and cut into 2.
  • Using the 1st strip, fold it into half and cut it. With these 2 cut-out sheets do a fan-fold.
  • Take 6 sheets (of the same height as the fan-folded papers) & stick the ends of the sheets in between each fold.
  • The inside of the wallet is ready.
  • Taking another sheet, cut it into the size of the wallet so as to cover it and keep a little extra for the flap.
  • Stick this on the wallet so as to cover the base of the wallet and making a cover.
  • Cut out 2 small strips and stick them on the back of the wallet to make its flap.
  • Draw and colour your favourite design on the cover.
