You know there are are just so many times when I have caught myself feeling happy about seeing things that are not for me but for my daughter and just feeling great looking at them. It’s strange how motherhood has changed me and I feel happy looking at ducks, cows or spotting dogs, considering that is the first being that kids relate to and they are never hard to find, atleast in Mumbai.
It begins with dogs, ducks, cows, ambulance, fire engine, water, diggers, cement mixers, excavators,nanos… uhh the list just doesn’t end. Its amazing how as mothers are lives are so entwined with our kids that even when they are not around our eyes keep searching for things they would enjoy, food they would love, or parks they would enjoy.
Soon after I got married, and my mom would make any of my favourite dishes, she would call me and say today I made ‘dal dhokli, its my favourite, or pani puri’ and we just couldn’t eat it as we missed you so much or we went to this place for a holiday and it was so beautiful and that time I would just laugh it off with my mom saying mom please stop being so melodramatic but now I understand what she meant.It’s true moms are fools and they will always be. We get happiness at every moment our child enjoys.
Have you… was inspired when I caught myself spotting mail boxes, in Mumbai, that are few & far while I was en route to fetching my daughter up from school. She is learning about the post office these days and I wonder why considering by the time they grow up I am not sure if they will exist. But none the less I love spotting the post boxes and I am sure it will soon move to something else and so will my search.
