The Rooster year comes every 12 years and is marked as the beginning of the Chinese New Year. This year falls after a Monkey year and before a Dog year. The years of the Rooster include 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1976, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, and 2029.

In the Chinese zodiac, each year is associated with an animal sign and one of the five elements- Gold (Metal), Wood, Water, Fire, or Earth. These two factors play a key role in shaping the astrology of the year. 2017 is considered the Fire Rooster Year.
