Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan announced the arrival of their daughter Max on Tuesday in a manner that stunned the world!
The new parents not only posted an adorable pic of them holding their daughter but also pledged to donate $45 billion during their lifetime to make the world a better place for her generation to live in! The announcement was in the form of a letter written to their daughter, which they posted on Facebook on #GivingTuesday, in which they said they would give 99 percent of their Facebook shares “during our livesâ€_x009d_ — holdings currently worth more than $45 billion — to charitable purposes.
The couple said, “Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities.” Towards this end, they will set up a charitable foundation known as the Chan Zuckerberg initiative to manage the money.
31 year old Zuckerberg and his wife shared an very intimate post with followers earlier on in their pregnancy where they shared details of Chan’s miscarriages and how emotional the journey to conceiving their baby has been for them.
