Why I never invested in a Diaper Bag?

To make me feel better and a whole lot in control, I invested in great pouches that had many compartments that could slip in easily into a large bag. I love big bags and it can conveniently stock my mini make up pouch, (carrying that little pouch with maybe just a gloss and kajal made me feel woman enough). If you have a toddler on board and no longer need those big bags then these waterproof envelope pouches work well to pack in diapers, wipes, a onesie and a napkin. If you love these ideas then go ahead and treat yourself to a bag that makes you feel good and can accommodate your baby’s world while you explore the world with her.

This may sound so against the rules and contrary to what every mom would advice you to invest in. I had my reasons and reservations and one of the biggest ones was it didn’t make me feel good. No matter how hard you try to pick something that matches with all your outfits and doesn’t really look like diaper bag the fact is it will never make you feel so good emotionally. It will add to the change which you were so averse against. It makes you feel that you have given up so much and completely out of fashion. I clearly don’t mean either that carry two bags, I know a lot of moms do that but if you are a mom with limited help or likes to do things on your own then this is clearly not what you should be gunning for.

It plays a huge emotional role in making you feel like life is not going to be the same ever again. That’s absolute bull shit. Life is not going to be diaper bags, wipes, and burp cloths for the rest of your life. It’s a phase and it will pass sooner than you know. Trust me you will miss that too. Also as new moms we tend to over carry cut that right now.

Here are great options to a diaper bag that can easily go into your day bags.

Get a great Bag changer like this one. It can hold a bottle, an extra pair of change, diapers , wipes, sanitizer, creams and lotions, a rattle, some finger food, a rolled up changing mat. Make sure it got a waterproof lining like the ones in Befriend. You can choose to keep the milk bottle in an insulated bag for temperature control or choose zip locks. I was always okay to nurse in public so didn’t care much for the bottles. A feeding cloak would fit in easily in a bag changer.
